Georg Abraham HACKERT (Prenzlau 1755 - Florence 1805) "Vue de Caserte Prize au Couvent des Recollets en andant aux Aqueducs" Original etching with burin touch-ups from a subject by Jacob Philipp Hackert (Prenzlau 1737 - Florence 1807), older brother by the author, painted in gouache in 1782 for Ferdinando IV king of the Two Sicilies where the Royal Palace of Caserta is represented, a masterpiece of the architect Luigi Vanvitelli, built by Ferdinando's father, Carlo di Borbone together with the magnificent park that accompanies the view up to the Tifatini Mountains. Beautiful printed specimen, published and sold in Naples by the author himself before 1799, the date of the transfer of the artist to Tuscany, first to Livorno and then to Florence, together with his brother, with large margins beyond the imprint of the plate, with various defects at the edges such as small spots, folds and traces of foxing, but overall in excellent condition. Absolutely uncommon. Philipp Hackert's original painting is kept today in the collection of the Royal Palace of Caserta. Bibliography: Chiarini “The landscape according to nature. Jacob Philipp Hackert and his circle ”Rome 1994 pag. 119 and 171.
